Our First Blanket Exercise was a huge success!

On August 8th, Solidarité Milton-Parc’s first KAIROS Blanket Exercise welcomed 33 people from the World Forum of Free Media along with members of the Milton-Parc and greater Montreal communities.

A beautiful summer evening on McGill’s main campus brought together a very multi-cultural group that included participants from the global south, and connections were made right away between the colonialism that people are suffering with in the south, and how the same thing is continuing with Indigenous Peoples here in Milton-Parc, Québec and Canada (or what many refer to as “Turtle Island”).

Many thanks to Vicky Boldo – Indigenous elder and co-facilitator, Chantel Henderson, Indigenous co-facilitator, and Charlie O-Connor, settler co-facilitator for making our first Blanket Exercise a loving, educational and smooth one. Thanks also to Gretchen King and the organizers of the World Forum of Free Media for their insistence that this popular education exercise was relevant and important to independent and free media globally.
